Manchester United are reportedly hot in the pursuit of PSV talent Santiago Arias and are willing to offer up to £6m for the PSV Eindhoven defender, according to the Mirror.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a number of defenders in recent weeks following the news that club-captain Nemanja Vidic would leave the club at the end of the season.
The Red Devils have been linked with the likes of Seamus Coleman and Luke Shaw, but strong reports have now emerged that David Moyes is after young defender Arias.
The 22-year-old defender is high on Moyes’ shopping list and would be a much cheaper option than going for Everton’s Seamus Coleman or Southampton’s Luke Shaw.
Arias is a Colombian international and Moyes is thought to have sent his European scouts to check on Arias recently in action for his PSV side. Arias has impressed for both club and country this season and his efforts have not gone unnoticed across the continent.
He joined PSV from Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and United scouts have been monitoring his progress for some time in an attempt to bolster their shaky back-line.
Vidic could be followed by the departure of Rio Ferdinand, who has struggled to command a place in the starting XI and has put in some rather average performances for the giant Manchester side.
Manchester United are second with the most clearances (1322) in the Premier League this season, just fourteen less than first-placed West Ham (1336).
