Manchester United are reportedly looking to sell winger Facundo Pellistri. The 22-year-old has been at Old Trafford since the 2020-21 season.
However, he has made only 25 appearances across competitions since then, contributing two assists, spending loan spells at Alaves and Granada, where he spent the last six months of last season.
Despite being contracted to Old Trafford till 2025, the Uruguayan reportedly has no future at Old Trafford. As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Panathinaikos are engaged in 'advanced talks' to sign him permanently.
Romano has reported that negotiations are 'ongoing' and that there's a real possibility of Pellistri leaving the Red Devils before the current summer transfer window closes.
It's pertinent to note that Pellistri featured in the FA Community Shield loss to Manchester City last weekend at the Wembley in London. United opened the scoring through Alejandro Garnacho in the 82nd minute before Bernardo Silva equalised for City seven minutes later.
In the ensuing shootout, Pep Guardiola's side recovered from 3-1 down to triumph 7-6, avoiding joining their illustrious neighbours as the only side to lose the FA Community Shield in four straight years.
Last season, Pellistri made 14 appearances across competitions for the Red Devils across competitions, registering an assist, which came in the Premier League, where United finished a lowly eighth.
What's next for Manchester United?
Manchester United recovered from their FA Community Shield loss to Manchester City by beating Fulham in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford on Saturday (August 16).
Despite captain Bruno Fernandes squandering multiple gilt-edged opportunities, new signing Joshua Zirkzee - coming off the bench - latched on to an Alessandro Garnacho assist to score an 87th-minute winner.
The win marked the Red Devils' record-extending 22nd in Premier League opening-day fixtures, where they have now collected 70 points, a record tally in the division.
Erik ten Hag's side next take on Brighton & Hove Albion away on August 24. They lost 3-1 to them at home in September, with Hannibal Mejbri scoring in the 73rd minute. However, the Red Devils beat Brighton 2-0 away on the last day of the season, thanks to second-half goals from Diego Dalot and summer arrival Rasmus Hojlund.
Nevertheless, they recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish of eighth. However, they qualified for Europe by upsetting holders City 2-1 in the FA Cup final to win the competition for the first time in eight years.
