Manchester United boss David Moyes could be set to revive a move for Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao, having seen a deadline day move for the left back fall through in the summer. The Telegraph report that the Portuguese international could be set to move to Old Trafford on loan, despite David Moyes’s reservations over whether he would actually improve the squad.
The Telegraph suggest that Moyes has concerns over the deal and would prefer to do his business in the summer. He is also rumoured to doubt whether Coentrao would add to his squad, but is keen to make a big name January signing in order to appease supporters after the club’s poor first half of the season.
Moyes has recently admitted that many of his long term targets are not available for January moves, but it is believed that Coentrao is keen on making the move. Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly acting as a go between in the deal, which would initially be a loan move.
Coentrao has found himself out of the Real Madrid side this season, and has made just four league appearances. He only made 17 La Liga appearances last season and is keen on a move in order to gain regular first team football.
Coentrao has won 69% of his tackles this season, winning nine from 13 attempts.
