Manchester United are considering entering a final round of negotiations with Patrice Evra over a new contract, according to Goal.
Evra’s contract expires in the summer and there have been rumours that his future at the club may be coming to an end. It is quite clear that David Moyes, his manager, has been seeking a replacement since the day he walked through the doors at Old Trafford last summer.
Moyes had a bid rejected for Everton’s Leighton Baines and has been reported to have look at other alternatives since.
However, despite rumours that Evra may return to France or go to Italy in the summer, it is understood that United are to offer Evra one last opportunity to stay at the club beyond this season.
A United source told Goal: “Moyes is keen to keep Evra beyond the summer but, out of respect for his service to the club, will not stand in his way should he decide that he doesn’t want to extend his current deal.
“And despite what has been portrayed in the media, Evra’s team-mates remain convinced that he wants to stay and help Moyes through this difficult period in charge of the club.”
Only Wayne Rooney (53) has created more chances than Patrice Evra (34) at Man United.
