Manchester United are keeping tabs on Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic as a potential option should David De Gea opt to leave the club in the summer, according to reports.
Real Madrid are reportedly looking at De Gea as a potential goalkeeping recruit in the summer to improve their options between the sticks, with Iker Casillas potentially set to be offloaded, while Diego Lopez does not have the star quality that president Florentino Perez demands.
Should they go through with a move and De Gea does opt to quit Old Trafford, United are considering Handanovic as an option to replace him.
Handanovic has been a one of the brighter sparks for Inter in recent seasons since replacing Julio Cesar as the number one for the Nerrazzuri, but he could be tempted to leave unless Inter can promise him that they will improve and become title contenders once again.
A United source gave his verdict on the ‘keeping situation at Old Trafford, saying, “We’re not too concerned at the moment with keeping De Gea. I’m sure the club will do their best.
“Still it’s good to have other options and my understanding is that Handanovic is a player being considered.”
United could make it a triple swoop on Inter in the summer, with Fredy Guarin and Ricardo Alvarez also linked with a switch to David Moyes’ side.
