Reports suggest that Manchester United could be about to hand out another bumper contract, with The Metro alleging that United are willing to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding Toni Kroos’ new deal at Bayern Munich by offering the German £250,000 per week to move to Old Trafford.
Kroos has turned down a new deal at the German club, prompting United to monitor the situation ahead of making their own offer. Should he not sign a new deal, then Bayern are reportedly willing to offload the German international at the end of the season, with United leading the queue.
The bumper contract offer would be a signal of intent for United, having handed Wayne Rooney a new deal worth £300,000 per week just a few weeks ago, and would represent a £150,000 increase on Bayern’s offer.
The club’s boss David Moyes is expected to be busy in the summer transfer window, with his current squad dramatically underperforming this season.
Kroos has made 21 Bundesliga performances this season, scoring one goal. The 24 year old has also featured in seven Champions League matches, including a starring role in the last 16 first leg win over Arsenal. He made 144 passes at The Emirates and fired Bayern into the lead with a 54th minute strike.
