Atletico Madrid are reportedly monitoring Javier Hernandez with a view to a summer transfer if Diego Costa does end up leaving the club in a big money move.
Costa is one of the most sought after strikers in Europe currently, with Chelsea heavily linked with a big for the latest Spanish international as they look to solve their own striking problems.
Atletico are putting a contingency plan in place for the summer in the event that Costa does decided to leave the club and, according to the Metro, have identified Hernandez as one of the players who could lead their line next season.
Hernandez is reportedly unhappy at Manchester United after a lack of first team opportunities, managing just five league starts this season for the Red Devils.
United are plotting a major overhaul of their squad in the summer with several ins and outs expected to take place at Old Trafford and Hernandez is reportedly one of those who has been made available for transfer in order to make way for new recruits.
Inter Milan are also reported to be keen on the Mexican striker who is currently fourth choice up front for United and keen to move on to avoid his career from stagnating.
Javier Hernandez has hit the target with 73% of his shots on goal this season, with his four league goals coming at a 26.7% conversion rate.
