Sports Direct News reports that Napoli manager Rafa Benitez is targeting his ex-midfield marshal Xabi Alonso.
The Spanish midfielder had earlier played under Benitez at Liverpool. The Napoli boss would gladly welcome his old war-horse back under him at the Italian club.
Xabi Alonso is serving the last year of his contract with Real Madrid. Many clubs including teams from the Premier League have decided to approach the midfielder.
Alonso seems high on Napoli’s list of priorities, with the likes of Javier Mascherano and Maxime Gonalons also being linked with the club in recent months.
It will be interesting to see if Benitez can successfully rope in the midfield maestro by next year.
