Real Madrid have reportedly had a rethink of not doing any business during the upcoming January transfer window. Los Blancos have been going through a mini-slump after a bright start to the season.

Carlo Ancelotti's side slumped to a surprise 3-1 midweek loss at home to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League. Following Malick Thiaw's 12th-minute opener, Vinicius Junior restored parity from the spot, but Alvaro Morata restored the visitors' lead six minutes before the break.

The Rossoneri then scored another through Tijjani Reijnders as Los Blancos suffered their second continental reverse in four games this season. The loss comes after Madrid had lost 4-0 at home to arch-rivals Barcelona in the El Clasico in their previous game in La Liga.

Following the side's slump in form, Melchor Ruiz Cope (via Madrid Xtra) has reported that Los Blancos are set to delve into the January transfer window to reinforce the squad. They were previously reluctant to do any transfer business during the upcoming window, but recent results might have forced the club's hands.

Defence appears to be a problem area for Los Blancos, having conceded nine goals in their last three games across competitions, winning once and losing twice.

Ancelotti's side are next in action in La Liga at the weekend when they host Osasuna on Saturday (November 9).

Is Real Madrid parting ways with Carlo Ancelotti?

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti's job doesn't appear to be under immediate threat. But the Italian will be aware that results need to improve soon to give him some breathing space.

Following their El Clasico loss to Barcelona, they are nine points behind their arch-rivals at the top but have a game in hand. Meanwhile, in the UEFA Champions League, Los Blancos are languishing in 18th place.

As per BILD (via Real Champs), Ancelotti could be let go at the end of the season despite being contracted for another year. The report says that Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso seems to be one of the top contenders.

The retirement of midfield maestro Toni Kroos and Barca's rollicking start to the season, especially in the league, means Madrid have a lot of catching up to do to return to title-contending ways.

Ancelotti has had a successful second stint at the Bernabeu since succeeding Zinedine Zidane in the summer of 2021, winning two La Liga and Champions League titles, among others.
