Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is set to be available for the UEFA Champions League clash with Atalanta following an injury scare in the 3-0 La Liga win at Girona on Sunday (December 8).
The 21-year-old Englishman opened the scoring at the Montilivi but came off due to discomfort, as per AS (via Managing Madrid). However, Bellingham is set to be available for the Atalanta game on Tuesday (December 11).
The former Borussia Dortmund man is in good form recently after a quiet start to the season, scoring in his fifth straight La Liga game, to go with two assists. Los Blancos have won four of these matches, recovering from a 2-1 loss at Athletic Bilbao in their previous outing.
Amidst injury worries about Ferland Mendy and a few others, the update about Bellingham would come as a positive news for coach Carlo Ancelotti, whose side are in need of a pick-me-up in the Champions League.
The holders have lost thrice in their opening five matches and are outside the play-off places, occupying 24th place in the 32-team field. However, they will have happy memories of their last clash with Atalanta, which they won 2-0 in Warsaw to win the UEFA Super Cup in August.
Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham sets record in Girona win
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham had made a sizzling start to life at the club when he arrived from Borussia Dortmund last summer. He registered 23 goals and 13 assists across competitions as Los Blancos won the La Liga-Champions League double and also clinched the Supercopa Espana.
However, Bellingham endured a difficult start to his sophomore campaign, which wasn't helped by injuries. Nevertheless - as mentioned above - he has scored in five straight La Liga games - becoming the first player to do so in the competition this season.
Moreover, with his strike against Girona, he went level with Los Blancos top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo's tally (4) against the side, as per Madrid Universal. Overall, Bellingham has registered five goals and as many assists in 18 outings across competitions.
All five strikes have come in the top flight, where Ancelotti's side trail leaders Barcelona by two points with a game in hand. The La Liga leaders dropped points at the weekend, twice squandering their lead in a 2-2 draw at Real Betis.
