Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered Spanish giants Real Madrid a chance to sign Benfica defender Antonio Silva in January. Los Blancos are faced with a serious crisis at the back following injuries to key players since the start of the season.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has had only one senior centre-back, Antonio Rudiger, fit and available for every game this season. With the likes of Eder Militao, Joan Martinez and David Alaba out injured, the likes of Raul Asencio and Aurelien Tchouameni playing in defence.

Portuguese super agent Mendes, who represents Cristiano Ronaldo, among others, has offered Los Blancos a chance to sign Silva. According to Defensa Central, the 21-year-old Portugal international has been on the radar of Los Blancos for a while, and Mendes is ready for him to move.

Antonio Silva was a regular starter under Roger Schmidt but has lost his place to Tomas Araujo since Bruno Lage's arrival. This situation has caused Mendes to look for solutions for his client, including trying to get Real Madrid to sign him.

Los Blancos have looked at signing young defenders since the summer, with the 18-year-old duo of Leny Yoro and Vitor Reis linked with them at separate points. Like the duo, Silva is a young player and has made 13 appearances this season, helping to keep seven clean sheets across competitions.

The unavailability of Alaba until March as against January, as previously expected, may force the club to make a move in the January transfer window. If a deal can be reached for Antonio Silva, Los Merengues may choose to make him their next signing.

Reliving former Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo's incredible record for Los Blancos

Cristiano Ronaldo became the world's most expensive player when he joined Real Madrid from Manchester United for a reported €80 million in 2009.

The forward quickly adapted to life in Spain, becoming the main man in a newly assembled Galactico squad which had Kaka, Karim Benzema, Raul, Sergio Ramos, Iker Casillas and others.

Cristiano Ronaldo's name soon became synonymous with goalscoring, as he went on to become Los Blancos' all-time leading goalscorer, with 450 goals in 438 competitive appearances, including 105 in the UEFA Champions League and 312 in La Liga.

He won 16 trophies at the club, including four Champions League titles, in nine years.
