Italian Serie A side Roma are ready to offer Fernando Torres an exit from his ordeal at Stamford Bridge, according to reports.
Reports suggest that the Spanish international could become Roma’s sixteenth capture of the summer with the Giallorossi ready to depart with promising young forward Mattia Destro to make the deal happen.
Torres has seen his footballing career completely flipped upon his arrival at London, following a £50 million move from Premier League rivals Liverpool.
Whether, it was the pressure to live up to his price tag or plain poor form, he has not been able to justify Roman Abramovich’s huge outlay on the ex-Atletico Madrid youngster. In his two and a half years at Stamford Bridge, Torres has played 110 times for Chelsea, scoring a meagre 20 goals.
His glaring misses and poor run of form has now made him the subject of internet jokes and cause of heartache for many Chelsea faithful, who, alike him, would also like it if his horror show in London comes to an end.
Roma meanwhile have already wrapped up 12 permanent and 3 loan deals this summer. The team from the Italian capital, it seems are ready to take a punt and bring Fernando Torres to add depth to their attack.
Many feel that Roma are still short of a genuine goal-getter with Destro top-scoring for them last season with only 13 goals.
