After having a clash with manager Jose Mourinho, Samuel Eto’o is set to leave Chelsea and head towards defending AFC Champions League champions, Guangzhou Evergrande of China.
The Cameroon international is readyto leave the Stamford Bridge once his contract with the club ends this summer and is in advanced talks with the Chinese Super League outfit. The club’s manager Marcelo Lippi is set to provide power to the team’s attack through Eto’o.
But the greatest drawback of this ongoing negotitations is the salary demanded by the player. Eto’o reportedly wants £8.1million, which is obsiously a huge sum in Asian football.
This season, Eto’o scored 12 goals in 34 appearances for Chelsea, but was angered when Mourinho questioned his age. Mourinho claimed that Eto’o was older than 33 (his actual age). In response, he has called the Portuguese a “puppet” and “fool”.
Evergrande are also considering signing Genoa’s Alberto Gilardino. The Italian club wants £4 million for the striker.
Evergrande posses former West Ham United striker Alessandro Diamanti, in addition to Brazilians Rene Junior, Elkeson, Muriqui and Korean Kim Young-Gwon for the foreigners’ quota.
