Atletico Madrid’s Brazilian playmaker Diego will be running out of contract at the end of the season and he has been reportedly linked with a number of clubs including his old club Atletico Madrid where he was on loan and also a number of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool and Southampton.
Diego joined Wolfsburg in 2010 from Juventus due to a mutual consent with sporting director of Juventus, Giuseppe Marotta. In his 15 starts for Wolfsburg this season, Diego has netted 3 goals and also assisted 3 goals.
Atletico Madrid were interested in signing the midfielder, but the Brazilian has refused a move to the Spanish club boosting Southampton’s chances of signing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
VfL Wolfsburg are currently in fifth position in the Bundesliga.
