Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has opened the door for Toni Kroos to move to Manchester United, or any other club, after suggesting that ‘things move quickly in football’.
Apparently, David Moyes sat with Kroos’ representative when he travelled to Germany last week to watch Borussia Monchengladbach against Bayern Munich.
That has seen the rumour mill go into overdrive as Moyes searches for a new midfielder after signing Juan Mata for a club record fee last week.
Some reports suggest that Moyes is ready to make a £25 million for the 24-year-old.
Guardiola was asked about speculation linking Kroos with the Red Devils and did nothing to downplay talk of a potential move.
He said: “He is an important player but things can move fast in football.
“Here today, gone tomorrow.”
Negotiations over a new contract for Kroos have stalled with the German club and rumours of his future started when he said this:
“I am unable to rule anything out.
“I am under contract with Bayern Munich (until June 2015). Actually there are yet no further talks [regarding a new contract] scheduled. I will therefore fully focus on the second half of the season.
“There are worse situations in life. I play for a top club, and under a top coach. I am pleased, and sometime in the future a decision will be made.”
Meanwhile, here is Toni Kroos’ reaction after being subbed off yesterday night:
