Former Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori could reportedly be headed back to London, as Tottenham Hotspur are in pursuit along with a few other Premier League clubs.
Tomori, 27, has been at AC Milan since the summer of 2021 after arriving from the Blues. In over 150 appearances across competitions for the Rossoneri, he has bagged seven goals and an assist. That includes 15 games this season without a goal contribution.
With the Blues, the Englishman was a fringe player, contributing two goals and an assist in 21 games across competitions. He last played for them - two games - in the 2020-21 season before joining Milan - initially on loan in January 2021 - before the move became permanent in the summer.
However, Tomori has fallen down the pecking order at the San Siro, starting just six times in the league this season and accumulating 13 minutes of game time in his last 10 Serie A outings. Considering his struggles, talkSPORT has reported that Tottenham could make a move for the defender this month.
However, Spurs aren't alone in the former Blues man's pursuit, as Newcastle United, West Ham United and Brentford are also said to be interested in his services. Although Tomori is contracted with Milan till 2027, a return to England could see him get more game time.
It remains to be seen if the 2022 Serie A winner chooses to make a move or fight for a place in the Rossoneri XI.
What's next for Chelsea?
Chelsea have had a decent start to life under new boss Enzo Maresca, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the start of the season. However, the Blues have had a bit of a stutter recently, especially in the Premier League, where they have lost their last two games.
Having closed out the year with a disappointing 2-0 defeat at newly promoted Ipswich Town, Maresca's side are on the road again, visiting Crystal Palace in the league on Saturday (January 4).
Seven days later, the Blues open their FA Cup campaign at home to League Two strugglers Morecambe in the third round. In their previous meeting - in the same competition four years ago - the Premier League giants had run out 4-0 winners.
The Blues have finished runner-ups three straight times (2020-22) in the last five seasons, getting knocked out by eventual runner-ups Manchester City in the semi-final last campaign.
