Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney could be a subject to a big transfer move this summer as speculation is rife that Real Madrid are looking to sign the English centre-forward for £25 million.
Rooney, 28, is one of three summer targets for the Spanish giants this summer, according to the Telegraph.
The English striker is now into the last 18 months of his contract at Old Trafford and is expected to make a move away from the Reds before they lose him for nothing at the end of next season.
Ex-Real Madrid and current Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho revealed his thoughts on Rooney last week.
“United were clear in the way they approached the Rooney situation. They don’t swap. They don’t sell. I don’t see that changing, they were very clear about that.”
‘Will it be the same this summer? I think maybe this summer they will try to sell to a non-direct rival. But they were very clear, not to a domestic direct rival,” he added.
Wayne Rooney could join the elite list of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, David Beckham and Gabriel Heinze who have made a move to the Spanish giants from the current Premier League champions if the transfer deal follows through.
