AC Milan's transfer market finally seems to be rolling into gear now that the details of their takeover are being finalised. The Italian giants are on the verge of being bought by a Chinese conglomerate backed by the state and are believed to have a substantial transfer kitty to rebuild their squad.
Vincenzo Montella was only recently confirmed as the new head coach for the 7 time European Champions and he's already got to work and submitted a list of transfer targets that he would like to see in his squad. Finding a partner for Alessio Romagnoli at centre-back seems a priority and Milan have already made a bid for Mateo Musacchio according to Sky Italia.

The 25-year-old Villarreal centre-back has been on the radar of the biggest clubs for a couple of years now, as his promising performances for in La Liga and continental competitions haven't gone unnoticed. The Yellow Submarines are said to be holding out for €25 million, while Milan's bid currently stands at €18 million.
The Rossoneri have already found an agreement with Musacchio's agent and could possibly close the deal soon. In case they aren't able to find a middle ground with Villareal though, Jonathan Tah, Bayer Leverkusen's centre-back is said to be an alternative. Montella is believed to be interested in Mehdi Benatia as well, but the Moroccan is close to finalising a transfer to Juventus.

Musacchio is comfortable with the ball at his feet and is excellent at making crucial interceptions and tackling and could be a brilliant player to partner with Romagnoli, the Italian who had a good first season with Milan. There could be exciting times ahead for Milan fans, with Adriano Galliani, their current CEO hard at work in securing Montella's targets for the 2016-17 Serie A season.
Midfield is also considered an area where Milan must make substantial improvements and Montella's desired targets are said to include Borja Valero, Leandro Paredes, Matteo Kovacic and Piotr Zielinski. If a considerable budget is allowed the club might even look to target Andre Gomes, the Valencia midfielder also being pursued by Manchester United and Juventus.
