Reports from the Bild claim that French Champions Paris Saint-Germain are interested in a shock move for Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. This comes after rumours that PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi is set to seal a move to the Premier League giants. Recent reports stated that PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi was given permission to hold talks with Manchester United despite the ongoing Euro tournament. If the deal does happen, PSG will be left with a huge gap to fill in their midfield and newly appointed coach Unai Emery looks to seal the gap by bringing in Bastian Schweinsteiger from Manchester United.
The German Skipper who scored a last minute goal for Germany against Ukraine in the group stages of the Euros recently sustained a minor knee-ligament injury during the quarter-final clash against Italy after coming on for Sami Khedira and is expected to miss the semi-final clash against host nation France.
With the expected arrival of Matuidi and reported chase for Juventus star Paul Pogba, Schweinsteiger’s role in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the 2016-17 season look uncertain.
The Parisians have already signed Hatem Ben Arfa, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Thomas Meunier and are also looking for a leader to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his recent departure. Schweinsteiger could be a perfect successor for the role of captain due to his vast experience and proven leadership skill.
