Real Madrid have not been having a great season. In the past few matches, they have dropped crucial points which have led them to losing a lot of ground on the title race. The club are currently nine points behind Barcelona after yesterday’s win with the Catalans still to play their game in hand.
One of their recent results came against their bitter rivals Atletico Madrid after which it looks the like the title race is over unless Barcelona collapse in dramatic fashion. According to reports from El Chiringuito Ronaldo and Ramos went to Perez after the game and asked him to let them leave in the summer.
Perez apparently attempted to calm Ronaldo down who was fuming after the loss and told him to wait until the end of the season to review the club’s situation. Ramos on the other hand, signed a new deal only a year back but has still requested the president to listen to the offers that come in for him in the summer.
The derby defeat to Atletico caused a lot of unrest among fans but the most significant headlines that came out of it was Ronaldo’s comments in the post-match interview. The Portuguese international said that Madrid would win more if his teammates were as good as he was.
The comments sparked a debate whether all was well in the dressing room. It has also fuelled speculation about his future and whether the player will remain at the Bernabeu come summer 2016.
One of the teams that tried to sign both Ramos and Ronaldo last season was Manchester United. The forward himself has stated that if he would return then his former club is his preferred destination.
But given that Jose Mourinho might be at the helm next season there is doubt over the transfer happening after the two had a fallout while the manager was at Real Madrid.
Ramos defends Ronaldo for comments on teammates
One thing looks to be certain and that is Ramos and Ronaldo don’t seem to have any problems between them after the Spaniard defended his teammate for his comments. Ronaldo accused his team’s performance saying, “If everyone was as good as me, maybe we would be first. If a team does not play with the best is difficult to win a long competition. I don't want to insult anyone”
But Ramos has come out and defended his teammate saying,”f anyone knows Cristiano, it is me," said Ramos."I don't think he wanted to attack any of his team-mates but perhaps he did not express his opinion in the best way.”
