Liverpool FC outcast Mamadou Sakho could soon be departing the Merseyside club, reports Mercato365 with French Ligue 1 club OSC Lille showing desire to bring the France international defender back to his home country.
The forgotten Red’s defender hasn’t played a single minute of football for the club’s first team this season despite being fit. The former Paris St.Germain captain has himself to blame for being frozen out of the team because of his constant social media outbursts and lack of discipline.
It all started during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States when Mamadou Sakho was sent back to England by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after he failed to show up for training on time and on one occasion also turned up late for the team flight.

Sakho’s frustration of not being part of the team lead to social media rants in the night which did not particularly help his cause. Jurgen Klopp had a busy summer ahead of the start of the season after he brought in reinforcements for Liverpool’s backline in the form of Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan. After their arrival, Sakho was consistently sidelined and pushed to play with the reserve teams and under 23’s.
The Liverpool manager did not hesitate to inform the 26-year-old defender that he will not be getting any game time and that he should leave before the transfer window ended. But Mamadou Sakho was quite stubborn and decided to stay and fight for his place in the team despite offers from West Bromwich Albion.
His decision to stay has backfired as Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren remains Klopp’s first choice centre-back pairing followed by Ragnar Klavan and Lucas Leiva.OSC Lille is languishing close to the bottom of the table in Ligue 1, and Mamadou Sakho could very well be an excellent addition to their backline.
With reports suggesting that Liverpool could offload him on loan in the coming transfer window, it would be a wise decision to move away from the club than waste his talent playing with the reserves.
