The Real Madrid left-back – Fabio Coentrao has been the talk of much speculation in recent months. Along with a host of other clubs, Liverpool FC have joined the race to sign the 25 million pound rated man.
The Portuguese left back plays second fiddle to Marcelo, under Carlo Ancelotti.
Clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United approached to sign the accomplished defender on a season long loan deal in the summer transfer window, but in vain.
Liverpool are in dire need of a left-back as Jose Enrique is still nursing an injury, which will see him out of action until February. With Aly Cisokkho failing to impress, Brendon Rodgers is looking to make Fabio Coentrao his primary target this January transfer window.
The 25-year old is said to favour a move away from the Bernebeu in a bid to play more first team football. The Premier League could be an attractive proposition for the former Benfica star.
