Probably the longest transfer saga last season was the David De Gea to Real Madrid story. For months, it looked like the Spaniard would move to the Bernabeu only for move to fall through at the last moment.
But everyone probably expect the Spanish giants to come back for the United stopper this season but it seems like they have dropped their interest altogether in favour of a move for another Premier League keeper Thibaut Courtois according to The Sun
The Belgian keeper is currently one of the best in the world and Madrid have identified him as the ideal candidate to replace Iker Casillas who moved to Porto last summer. With Chelsea unlikely to qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season Courtois might be very interested in the move.
He also made a few comments recently while on international duty that didn’t really exemplify his commitment to Chelsea. He even talked about how the training sessions were better at the Belgium national team because of the number of ‘world class’ players in the squad.
Reports are even suggesting that Courtois loves Spain more than London. The 23-year old spent two years on loan at Atletico Madrid before being recalled by his parent club and it looks like he has taken a liking to the Spanish Capital.
The Sun have also claimed that money would not be a problem for the club which comes as no surprise considering Real are currently the highest valued team in the world. The price that has been quoted for the keeper is said to be around £79 million which would make him the most expensive goalkeeper of all time.
Belgium training sessions are better than Chelsea’s: Courtois
Courtois rates the training sessions at Belgium to be at a higher level than that of Chelsea’s.“The level of training is higher among the Belgians as there are only world class international players in the squad, while at Chelsea the core squad sometimes trains alongside the youngsters as well.”
He also gave an uncertain reply when asked about his future at Chelsea saying, “I don't know. I still have three years on my current contract, it's about what Chelsea want as well.” So will we see another transfer saga this season with Thibaut Courtois or will Real Madrid come back in for David De Gea?
