Rumours: Three potential January targets for Liverpool

Hatem Ben Arfa would be good buy for Liverpool

Hatem Ben Arfa would be good buy for Liverpool

Despite a month and a half remaining for the January transfer window to open, there is already a flurry in the market and the Reds from Merseyside have already been linked to quite a number of names who can effectively bolster their squad come new year, with the hope of securing a top four finish. The rumour mills have already been predicting that certain players are almost sure to join Liverpool come next January. Here are three such names:

Diego Capel:

This has perhaps been the umpteenth time that the Sporting Club de Portugal player has been linked with the Reds. The former Sevilla winger is a technically gifted winger however he plays very wide, something which might not entice Brendan Rodgers, given the latter’s liking for technically versatile players. Capel though is available for as low as £5million according to the same report from the Mirror which looks like an affordable price for Rodgers to think about.

Moreover, he has that exquisite talent to beat opposition defenders with quick feet and possesses a very high work rate, something which is an asset for any team. Something which Liverpool had lacked in a plyer since the days of Dirk Kuyt. Well it’s tough to see nowadays Liverpool signing a player behind closed doors but this 25-year old Spanish International is worth the cash.

Milan Badelj:

I’ve mentioned his name before, and I would surely name this Hamburg man Milan Badelj again. Expect Badelj to make waves in the second half of the campaign if Rodgers decides to move for him. Perhaps the last missing piece in the Jigsaw, the Croatian is surely is the next big thing in World Football.

The 24-year-old possesses a calm head on young shoulders. Going by stats he averages around 3.2 tackles per game which is a decent number for a central midfielder which looks even better when coupled with dazzling dribbles in tight situations. If at all, you think he will be made as an understudy behind Lucas Leiva, I would say the Croat has something in his locker which can at the end of ninety minutes make the proverbial difference.

Hatem Ben Arfa:

If there is anyone who would say injuries have wrecked his career, and his playing style has been plagued by recuperating injuries, it has to be Newcastle United’s French dynamite Hatem Ben Arfa. An unbelievable player in his own right, with dazzling feet and brilliant vision coupled with a great eye for goal, Liverpool can look forward to entice Newcastle with a cheeky bid come this January.

The expense involved in bringing the Frenchman to Anfield may make it a no brainier, but it would be interesting to see what would happen should The Reds eventually move for this 26-year-old.
