Russia host Brunei at the Krasnodar Stadium in Krasnodar on Friday for an international friendly game. This is only their fourth game of the year and close out 2024 with another match against Syria next week.
Banned from participating in all UEFA matches since 2022, the Sbornaya have only been playing friendlies for nearly two years. In the current calendar year, Valery Karpin's side participated in three international friendly matches, and won on every occasion.
They beat Serbia 4-0 in their first match back in March, followed by a 4-0 drubbing of neighbors Belarus. In their last outing, Russia saw off Vietnam 3-0 as their winning run continued.

A massive squad of 30 players has been called up for this month's double-header against Brunei and Syria, but mostly inexperienced. Aleksei Miranchuk and Fyodor Chalov are the only two players in the side plying their trade outside of Russia.
As for their rivals from the ASEAN region, it has been quite a busy year, with eight games played, of which they won five (all consecutively).
