Ryan Giggs admitted that he’s “not quite ready” to become a fully fledged manager, writes the Evening Standard.
The “Welsh Wizard” stood in for the deposed Manchester United boss David Moyes at the end of the season and, although he felt comfortable with most things, Giggs knew he wasn’t completely primed for life as a coach.
The Red Devil’s assistant manager will team up with the new Man United boss Louis van Gaal, who is currently managing Netherlands ahead of their knockout game against Mexico on Sunday, when he returns from the World Cup.
Speaking on his brief spell in the hot seat at Old Trafford, the 40-year-old conceded that he needed more experience before he kicks off his managerial career.
“I thought I could do with a little bit more experience.”
Giggs is relishing the opportunity to work alongside someone other than Alex Ferguson, so he can draw on a broader range of influences.
“This year I can put everything into it and learn from someone who has managed at the top in so many other countries.
“It has been a good thing that I have been with Alex Ferguson for so long but I am now getting to see how other people work as well.”Manchester United scored five goals direct from free-kicks last season. Only Liverpool (six) scored more.
