#4 Manchester United preparing £35m opening bid for Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United have turned their attentions to their midfield after completing the signing of Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.
Since the departure of Ander Herrera, there has been a dearth of a proper central midfielder in the team and the Red Devils are working behind the scenes to get at least one central midfielder over the line before the end of the transfer window. The first name on that list is Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
ESPN reports that United are speeding up efforts to sign the Portuguese star, who is coming off a phenomenal season where he scored 28 goals from midfielder and registered a further 14 assists for his club. United have held informal meetings with the player's agent Miguel Pinho, but is yet to make a concrete offer.
It was initially thought that Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham were all interested in the Portuguese, but all of them have distanced themselves from the player, which means United are the front runners of his signature.
The player is expected to cost around €60m, but it is rumoured that United are preparing an initial bid of €35m to test the waters.
