Ryan Tunnicliffe scored the solitary goal of the game against Tottenham at Salford City Stadium in the Under-21 Premier League. The Reds are now in the second place in the table right above Liverpool.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who is plays on loan to Barnsley is determined to win more silverware this season as United look forward to Under-21 Premier League semi-finals.
“I think we have set a marker for the rest of the year,” he told MUTV. “If we get to the final, it looks like we could play Tottenham and we’ve proved we can beat them.
“Obviously, we’ve played them four times now this year and we’ve both won two each so you can’t say they’re better than us, they’ve just picked up more points elsewhere, although I’m not taking anything away from them because that’s why they are top of the league and they’re a very good team.
“We want to win everything, whatever tournament we are in – the Lancashire Senior Cup, Manchester Senior Cup and to be crowned the best team in England is what we’re striving for. We don’t want to go out at an earlier stage and then have nothing to play for – we want to keep going until the end.”
Tunnicliffe has also played internationally for England at under-16 and under-17 levels.
