Portuguese coach Ricardo Sa Pinto quit Red Star Belgrade today after just three months at the helm in protest at what he said was the club management’s failure to realise his plans for the upcoming season.
Sa Pinto took over at Red Star in mid-March in a bid to turn their disappointing season around.
He managed to guide the team back into the title race, although Red Star eventually finished behind bitter rivals Partizan Belgrade.
Sa Pinto, 41, capped 45 times by Portugal, spent most of his playing career with Sporting Lisbon but also had stints with Real Sociedad in Spain and in Belgium with Standard Liege.
