SAFF Trophy shoot takes place without the Indian captain

The official trophy shoot of SAFF Championship 2013 took place with all the captains of the participating nations on Friday morning but India was missing.

Captains of seven of the eight participants posed with the trophy just a day before the tournament opener between hosts Nepal and Bangladesh but India captain Sunil Chhetri was a notable absentee as he was taking part in the team’s training session, which took place simultaneously during the photo shoot.

According to sources close to the AIFF, the Indian team management were only informed about the photo shoot timing late on Thursday evening. By then, their training was already scheduled for Friday morning at the Police Headquarters ground.

It was learnt that India coach Wim Koevermans was satisfied with the conditions at the Police Headquarters ground and thus didn’t intend to change the timing as then they would have to train in an alternative venue.
