A spectator at the Hawthorns has supposedly recovered the last piece of gum chewed by Sir Alex Ferguson as manager. This piece soon found its way onto eBay and was displayed online in a custom-made case. It was sold overnight for a reported sum of £390,000 (Rs. 3.3 crores)! But all proceeds will go to MU Foundation, which helps disadvantaged youth in the Manchester area.
The eBay listing read as follows:
” Used chewing gum: RARE. Recovered from The Hawthorns. Clear perspex/wooden case.
Unofficial merchandise, rumoured to belong to Sir Alex.
After 1,500 games of intense chewing as manager of Man Utd, here lies Fegie’s last piece of chewing gum.
