In an recent interview, Cameroon star Samuel Eto’o has revealed that his life is at threat, from football officials who want him dead. Eto’o is seeking the protection of the ‘gendarmes’, or military police.
The former Real Madrid and Barcelona star, and current Cameroon Captain, has been in a dispute with the country’s association for some time now, but his recent allegations of death threats have made the issue spiral out of control.
During the interview, Eto’o said “The leaders of the FCF want to attack my life, they want to kill me. I live with a group of gendarmes and one sleeping in front of my door. I do this not out of snobbery, but for my own safety.”
He accuses the chiefs to be ‘incompetant and corrupt’ and has also revealed that all the shirts that he wears for every match is directly given to him by Puma, rather than the football association.
Eto’o went on to say “[The federation] have swindled our money long enough. Instead of managing football for the general interest, they are only concerned with fictitious missions, first class travels and untraceable bank accounts in Europe.”
The Cameroon FA, so far, have not responded to Eto’o’s allegations, although an official has accused the striker of attempting to destabilize the football in the country.
