Santi Cazorla has cast doubt over his Arsenal future by revealing he will consider his future when the World Cup has finished, reports the Daily Mirror.

Cazorla quickly became a key figure at Arsenal after joining from Malaga in 2012, but he had less of an impact in his second season following the arrival of Mesut Ozil. The German star took over the central playmaking role at the Emirates, and most of Cazorla’s starts came from the left wing. The 29-year-old is more than capable of playing out wide, and he still contributed four goals and made eight assists in the Premier League.

Cazorla has been linked with a move to La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, but his admission will come as a surprise to Arsenal, as he had agreed a new contract at the club earlier this year.

Speaking while in Brazil with the Spain squad, Cazorla said: ”When the World Cup is over, I’ll start thinking about my situation.

“I don’t want to be thinking about it right now and I’ve told my agents not to tell me anything if an offer comes in.

“But I know a few of the Atlético players – Godín, Juanfran and I know the side well from when I was playing the Spanish league but until the tournament is over, I won’t know if the rumours are true or not.”

The diminutive playmaker has 63 caps for Spain, though he remained on the bench during their humbling World Cup defeat against the Netherlands.

This latest news is another blow for Arsenal, who have already angered fans by allowing Cesc Fabregas to join Chelsea, and the club captain Thomas Vermaelen also looks set to join Manchester United.

Only Mesut Ozil created more chances (76) for Arsenal than Santi Cazorla (66) last season.
