After one season in the second division, the "Breisgauer" return into the Bundesliga as they established a ten-point advantage to the third place atop the standings on Friday, reports Xinhua.
It was a stiff piece of work for Christian Streich's men as Paderborn staged a resilient performance on home soil in the first half. However, Paderborn did not reward their efforts meanwhile Freiburg broke the hosts resistance after the restart.
Mike Frantz opened the scoring with just 17 seconds into the second half after beating Paderborn custodian Daniel Heuer Fernandes. The visitors gained momentum and doubled the lead just moments later through top scorer Nils Petersen.
Paderborn showed a vital sign in the 57 minute after Moritz Stoppelkamp reduced the arrears. The host pressed frantically for the equaliser but they hit the goal post several times.
With the result, second division front-runners Freiburg wrapped up their instant return into the top flight meanwhile Paderborn stay on the last place of the standings.
