German football giants Schalke 04 have penned a “long term” contract with the Kentaro agency in order to be a more prominent figure on the international front. Soccerex reports.
Alexander Jobst, head of marketing for Schalke 04, said: “Our intention is to expand the international presence of Schalke 04 – we have a very large number of fans not only in Europe but also in international countries. Central to this internationalisation process will be global TV visibility for a high-profile tournament in our Veltins Arena at the end of the pre-season, as well as selected tours in target markets, also in cooperation with the DFL (German Football League).”
Kentaro’s Stefan Fueg added: “We see great growth opportunities for Schalke 04 outside of Germany. We will support that with worldwide TV coverage of Schalke 04’s top-class season opening tournament in Gelsenkirchen. Speaking from experience, we would expect to distribute such an event live in more than 160 countries.”
The new deal will see Schalke, who are 14th in the Bundesliga, participate in an annual pre-season tournament at their home stadium Veltins Arena. Kentaro will also help the Schalke to arrange friendly games against Europe’s elite clubs.
