Schalke 04‘s Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is set to be out of action for several weeks after he suffered a knee injury during his side’s 4-0 defeat by VfL Wolfsburg, according to a report on Yahoo! Sport.
A statement from Schalke said that 30-year-old had suffered a partial tear of a ligament in his right knee following a collision with Wolfsburg ‘keeper Diego Benaglio.
“The team doctors think he is looking at a break of several weeks,” Schalke said.
Huntelaar top scored in the Bundesliga two years ago with 29 goals and scored twice in a 3-3 draw with Hamburg SV the previous weekend.
Schalke finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season and host Greek side PAOK Salonica on Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League group stage qualifier.
