SD Eibar player applauds Lionel Messi on Twitter after losing 4-0 to the Catalan side

Even before FC Barcelona took on Eibar on the 28th Match Day of the La Liga last Sunday, it seemed that everyone already knew what the fate of the match would be.

It seemed that even the Eibar players had given up on the match as the Catalan side netted in four past their goalkeeper Asier Riesgo with Lionel Messi scoring twice. Typically as brilliant as he is, one of the goals scored by the Argentine was a familiar solo effort when the ‘magician’ ran across the box, feigning and faking before eventually deciding to pull the trigger and put one at the back of the net.

A couple of goals in each half of the match gave Luis Enrique’s side a comfortable win at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium. However, as the Catalans further extended their winning streak to lead La Liga by a clear 8 points, it wasn’t a Barcelona player who caught the attention of the Twitterati.

The SD Eibar right winger, Sergio Gontan Gallardo, popularly known as Keko posted a tweet after the match, which rightly summarized the presence of the maestro on the field on Sunday.

After the match was over, the Eibar player decided to go on a quest to see exactly what magical potion Messi was drinking before the game, only to discover, much to his disappointment, that it was nothing but regular water.

When translated to English, Keko’s tweet sums up to the following-

“Among the remains of Barca, I thought I had found the magic potion 10. But much to my disappointment, it was only water.”

With this win, Barcelona sit pretty at the top of the La Liga table with a massive 12 point lead over their arch rivals Real Madrid who are currently occupying the third position. Second-placed Atletico Madrid are 8 points behind them.

With nine more matches to go, the Blaugranas are the firm favourites to lift up the Spanish football league title for two the second time in a row.

SD Eibar, on the other hand, are currently at 8th position with 36 points in their kitty after 28 matches. They’ve won 10 out of their 28 matches and lost 12 of them while 6 matches ending in a stalemate.
