Rio de Janeiro - Clarence Seedorf provided two sublime assists as Botafogo defeated Vitoria 2-0 in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
The 37-year-old set up Vitinho’s opener at the Maracana stadium Thursday with a precise cross from the left before Elias pounced on his sumptuous through ball with a low shot past Wilson, reports Xinhua.
“We gave our all and that set the tone for the match,” the former AC Milan midfielder said.
“Our rivals were good, but they came up against a Botafogo side that was strong and determined.”
The result lifted Botafogo to the top of the standings with 20 points from 10 games, ahead of second-placed Curitiba on goal difference.
“We are on the right track – eight or 10 points ahead of teams that were considered favourites. Every point from now on is going to be very important,” he added.
