Rio de Janeiro, Feb 20 (IANS) The cousin of former Dutch international midfielder Clarence Seedorf has signed for Brazilian fourth division outfit Alecrim.
Stefano Seedorf joined the club in Brazil’s north eastern city of Natal for an undisclosed fee from the Dutch first division side Nac Breda, reports Xinhua.
“Since I was a child I have only wanted to play football. To play in Brazil has been my dream and fortunately now that has come true. I am here to play football and I am excited by the club’s plans. I have my qualities as a player which I hope to show on the pitch,” the 30-year-old said Tuesday.
The Dutch-born midfielder made his professional debut with four-time European champions Ajax in 2001 and his career has included stints in Greece and Italy.
Alecrim president Anthony Armst said he hoped Seedorf would be registered by Brazil’s Football Confederation before the end of the month. Clarence Seedorf joined Rio de Janeiro side Botafogo last July after ending his 10-year spell with Italian giants AC Milan.
