Serge Aurier: I’d find it hard to turn down Arsenal

Serge Aurier

Serge Aurier has claimed he would welcome a move to Arsenal this summer, feeling that he is more than ready to make the step up and believes that he deserves it after the season he has just had.

Arsenal are in the market for a new right-back with Bacary Sagna set to join Man City and Aurier has emerged as one of the prime candidates for the role after impressing for Toulouse in Ligue Un this season.

The Ivorian full-back has claimed he is very flattered by the reported interest in him from the FA Cup winners and would jump at the chance, hoping it is possible for the two sides to agree terms.

Aurier told reporters, “It is true that I would be a bit disappointed to stay in Toulouse after a season like this one. I want to try something else.

“I have never prioritised an English club as even the promoted clubs are respectable, so I would take the opportunity for the one that will show the most interest in me, that will give me the most game time.

“After that, you can’t really say no to Arsenal. It is a club with history, with a French manager, who has always welcomed French players.

“Plus, Arsenal are always there or thereabouts when it comes to trophies and a club that plays in the Champions League.”

Serge Aurier won 85 tackles for Toulouse in Ligue Un last season, emerging victorious in 65% of his contested tackles.
