Having helped Manchester City qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever, Sergio Aguero, says he would be glad if they avoided some of the bigger fish in the quarter-final tie.
Barcelona are expected to go through to the last 8 already holding a 2-0 advantage against City's Premier League rivals Arsenal while Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich are also favourites to go through after they take on Italian giants Juventus in pre-quarters later tonight.
Aguero believes the two aforementioned teams – Barcelona and Bayern Munich – are the only ones who could realistically stop them from progressing to the final rounds of the Champions League.
You always want to go far, and to do that you have to face the best,” said Aguero.
“Obviously Barca and Bayern are there, who are the two best by form, and obviously if we can avoid them all the better, but at some point we will have to face them.
“I'm happy, we are all here for this, to fight at the top and we are happy to get through.
"The thing is for the last two years we have had to play against Barcelona and they are a very tough opponent, they are always favourites to win the Champions League.
“It's difficult, but we are happy to fulfil our goals (of going through).”
I will return to Argentina: Aguero
Aguero has always insisted that once he's done playing a few more years in Europe, his ambition is to return back home to where it al started.
"You are born in one club as a kid, and you always want to return to where you started,” said Aguero.
“I have always said it - I will go back, and I think the Argentine and Brazilian share that feeling of wanting to return.
“Right now I am thinking about winning the Champions League with Manchester City, but we will see what happens in the future.”
Lastly, when asked about what he thought about the appointment of Pep Guardiola as manager starting next season, Aguero said, "I don't know him, but let's finish the season first in the best way possible.”
