Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will not feature for his team against Aston Villa due to an injury but looks set for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against reigning champions Bayern Munich, ESPN FC reports.
The 25-year-old picked up an injury during the 4-1 drubbing of cross town rivals Manchester United, where he scored a brace. David Silva is also unfit for the game against Aston Villa.
The Argentina international was on the bench for the 5-0 trashing of Wigan Athletic and his manager Manuel Pellegrini said: “Aguero finished the last derby in the last play with a small pain.
“I think it was nothing important but it was a risk for him to play three games in the same week. We will leave him for next Wednesday but he will be absolutely fine.”
The Italian is unsure whether Silva will be fit to face Bayern, adding: “We will see in the week.”
New signing Stevan Jovetic scored twice against Wigan in the Capital One Cup clash and could start for City against Villa.
Pellegrini said: “For different reasons he didn’t start the other games but he scored two goals and he is a very important player. Not only for Stevan but for all the squad it was an important game. We had high performance in all of the players.”
