#2 CR7 more settled in Serie A than last year
Cristiano Ronaldo may not have had a bad campaign last season but overall, he churned out a sub-par goal-scoring return per his own lofty standards. Not only was he outscored in Serie A, he was also nowhere near the top scorers in Europe.
The trio of Fabio Quagliarella (26 goals), Duvan Zapata (23 goals) and Krzysztof Piatek (22) all outscored the Portuguese in the league, while eternal rival Lionel Messi and Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe also beat him in the race for the European Golden Shoe.
But to be fair to Ronaldo, he was in new territory and needed time to settle in his new environment. Having now settled in, and with better knowledge of his teammates, Ronaldo is likely to enjoy a more fruitful season in 2019-20.
A more fruitful season means getting back in contention for any award that has to do with goal scoring, especially in the Serie A and the UEFA Champions League.
