Rio de Janeiro - Dutch star Clarence Seedorf scored twice as Botafogo rallied from a goal down to beat Cruzeiro 3-1 in Brazil’s Serie A championship.
Seedorf struck with a first-time volley to cancel out Tinga’s 19th-minute opener at Cruzeiro’s Independencia Stadium Wednesday before adding a second with a low drive that left goalkeeper Fabio with no chance, reports Xinhua.
The former AC Milan midfielder then set up Jadson for the team’s third goal with a dashing run and precise cross from the left wing.
“This team has character and a great sense of unity,” Seedorf said after the match.
The result lifted Botafogo above Cruzeiro to the seventh in the standings and just five points from the top four.
Cruzeiro is the eighth with the same points tally as Botafogo but an inferior goal difference.
