Diego Forlan said Inter would buy Griezmann to replace Icardi
Atletico Madrid legend Diego Forlan has revealed that Inter plan to go for Griezmann to replace under-fire Mauro Icardi. The Uruguayan striker had played for both Inter and Atletico in the past but starred most prominently for the Spanish side.
“If [Griezmann] stayed at Atletico Madrid he’d become a legend, but Inter will buy him once Icardi is sold,” the 39-year-old told ESPN.
He claimed that Inter Milan are the one who told him the sensational plan.
“The club told me this,” he concluded.
Icardi has faced numerous problems in both on and off the field at the Italian outfit. Inter, on the other hand, have seemed to secure Atletico's Diego Godin next season and could use the strong relationship with the Spanish giant to lure Griezmann to San Siro.
Inter will scoop a considerably high amount of cash if they sell Icardi. Hence, they might have the financial power to beat other suitors such as Barcelona and Manchester United for the World Cup winner.
