Manchester United Player Ratings:

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for Manchester United.

David De Gea - 6/10

There wasn't much he could've done about either Sevilla goal as some atrocious defending leaving him brutally exposed.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 4/10

The Sevilla left-wingers, be it Ocampos or Munir, didn't really do much to test Wan-Bissaka, but he kept getting into awful defensive positions. Reguilon benefitted from that to set up Sevilla's first goal. Wan-Bissaka also stood still and failed to mark De Jong in the lead-up to La Liga club's winner.

Victor Lindelof - 4/10

Like Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof's defending during the Sevilla winner was atrocious. He was caught under the flight of the cross from Navas and didn't even make an attempt to win the header before the ball landed at De Jong's feet.

Harry Maguire - 3/10

If his defensive teammates were at fault for both Sevilla goals, Maguire was completely AWOL. He got caught in no man's land while defending both goals. The first goal, especially, was a terrible look as Maguire almost turned the other way instead of defending the actual cross.

Brandon Williams - 3/10

As has been the pattern in recent games, Williams was once again a little out of his depth. He left Suso totally unmarked at the back-post for the first goal and failed to stop the cross for Sevilla's second goal.

Fred - 5/10

Starting ahead of Nemanja Matic at the base of the Manchester United midfield, Fred was hardly effective. He lost possession a bit too easily and didn't get close enough to Banega. He also missed a golden chance to put Manchester United 2-0 up when he shot wide from inside the box after being played through by Fernandes.

Paul Pogba - 6/10

Some of Pogba's passing, especially early in the game, was a joy to behold. Martial, Rashford and Greenwood were getting a lot of that joy too. But the French midfielder tapered off as the game went on.

Bruno Fernandes - 6/10

Fernandes scored the penalty emphatically, but his general play was once again not quite what Manchester United would've wanted. He could have had an assist when he played Greenwood through in the second half but Bono stood up tall.

Mason Greenwood - 5/10

The youngster didn't really manage to get into the game very often tonight. He did have a golden chance on his right foot, though, after getting played through by Fernandes. He did the right thing by trying to go across the 'keeper but was unfortunate to see his effort saved.

Marcus Rashford - 6/10

He won the penalty to allow Fernandes to put Manchester United in the lead. He could've also put Manchester United back in the lead just before half-time, but he slipped in the box after a swift counter-attack, and the chance was gone.

Anthony Martial - 7/10

Martial was just unlucky to not score on the night. His dribbling was excellent, link-up play was great, and he struck his shots well. He was unfortunate to run into an inspired Bono.

Manchester United Substitutes;

Juan Mata - 5/10

He had one notable action in the game, which was putting a cross straight into Bono's waiting arms.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah - 5/10

He came on to replace Brandon Williams late in the game but didn't have any touches of note apart from one cross that he hit a bit too heavily.

Daniel James - 5/10

He had one dribble on the byline and produced a cross, but it wasn't to a team-mate.

Odion Ighalo - N/A

He didn't even have a touch of the ball after replacing Greenwood in second-half stoppage time.
