Sheffield Wednesday host Millwall at Hillsborough on Saturday in the EFL Championship, as they aim to build on their last win.
After going two games without a win, the Owls returned to winning ways in resounding fashion when they beat Derby County 4-2 in their first game of 2025.
Barry Bannan gave them an early lead by breaking the deadlock in just the eighth minute, before Josh Windass doubled their advantage in the 61st minute. Djeidi Gassama added a third goal two minutes later but Jerry Yates pulled one back for the Rams soon after and it was game on. Anthony Musaba squished all hopes of a comeback for Derby by netting his strike in the 74th minute.
Ebou Adams then made it 4-2 in stoppage-time, but Sheffield were comfortable winners on the day, picking up their 10th victory of the league season from 25 games. Now with 36 points in the bag, Danny Röhl's side are in ninth place of the Championship standings, four above Millwall, who are going through a rough patch right now.
They've won just once in their last 10 outings, and come into tomorrow's clash on the back of a slender 1-0 loss to Oxford United. Ruben Rodrigues struck the only goal of the game in the 57th minute, and it was enough to tame the toothless Lions.
