Manchester United claimed an easy 2-1 win over rivals Liverpool at the Anfield Stadium. Shelvey was shown a early red card in the 39th minute for a 2-footed challenge on Johnny Evans. Referee Mark Halsey had no option but to take the red card out of his pocket and the player left the field in despair.
