Yet another Premiership success story, a record 20th championship and yet Alex Ferguson does not seem to be content with it. The same drive that has seen him script a two and a half decade era of dominance in England wants to see Manchester United go on to achieve greater things and build upon this foundation.
It is being reported by The Sun that the Manchester United chief could have a mammoth transfer kitty of £120 million come summer for a possible overhaul of the United squad. £70 million is expected to be generated through player sales, with an additional £50 million from the club coffers.
This comes at a time when rivals Manchester City and Chelsea would be looking to strengthen themselves after disappointing seasons. Cash rich Manchester City would be looking for yet another star to add to their ranks after missing out on Robin Van Persie last August.Chelsea also have the financial clout to rebuild under a new manager.
It’s only natural, then, that Ferguson would be ready to strengthen his position domestically andmake yet another bid for European supremacy.
The club are reportedly open to offers for both Nani (at £15 million) and Anderson (at £10 million).
In addition, while Ferguson may want to retain the services of Javier Hernandez, he would respect the Mexican Forward’s desire for more first team action elsewhere. Hernandez, who has only started 7 of Man United’s league games this season, has attracted several suitors from Spain, with giants Real Madrid favorites among them.
While Chicharito would cost any potential suitor £22 million, a big question marks hangs over United’s talisman player Wayne Rooney, who is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain for £25 million.
United are considering such a deal for the England star, 27, who only has two seasons to go on his contract. Given this scenario, strikers top Ferguson’s wish list .
Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski could be set to move to Old Trafford for £18 million. But Ferguson has set his sights on the one man who is hot property in Europe – Atletico Madrid’s £50 million rated front-man Radamel Falcao.
All these plans, however, could be given the toss if United can bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. Ronaldo, who much like Rooney has 2 years remaining on his contract, has ruffled feathers at Real Madrid by refusing to sign a new contract.
Ferguson’s United are in with a chance of signing him with a £65 million move, thereby making their boldest statement of intent yet about their European ambitions.
