Six Sporting Goa Academy players selected for Goa U-14 school team

Six Sporting Clube de Goa Academy players have been selected to represent the state at the 59th School Football National games for Under-14 boys, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, to be held from January 16 to 22 in West Bengal.

David Cardosa (right wing), Jonas Fernandes (stopper), Akshat Hadkonkar (goalkeeper), Malcolm Gonsalves (striker), Niraj Parekh (left wing) and Jayden Fernandes (right back) are the six talented SCG academy players who have been selected for the Goa schools team.

In keeping with their motto of “GROWING GOA’S GAME!”, Sporting Clube de Goa launched their Academy last August and it is extremely satisfying to witness six wards being selected for the Goa schools team after sharpening their skills under the watchful eyes of the SCG Academy coaches.

The six young players are also students of Don Bosco High School, Panjim where the SCG Academy is based and it is with the determined support of the Principal Rev. Fr. Avin Carvalho and devotion of the PE teachers which has also played a large role in this achievement.

2It is a proud moment for our club to see six young wards donning Goa colours, although the real challenge for us is to nurture these players further and ensure that they have the desire, dedication and discipline to rise up higher through the ranks,” remarked Sporting Clube de Goa president Peter Vaz.
